MVCC strongly supports augmentation for restoring grizzly bears to the North Cascades Ecosystem. It seems clear that without augmentation, chances for achieving a viable population of bears in the recovery area are extremely low. MVCC believes that moving expeditiously to restore a top predator to prime habitat in the NCE is important in achieving the goals of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), which include conserving “the ecosystems upon which endangered species and threatened species depend,” as well as conserving individual species.
